Salcombe is in an "Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty".

The house is a 5 minute walk down the hill to the boatyard area where yachts and powerboats are launched. There is a sailing school and powerboat school in the estuary.

It is about 5 minutes walk to the town centre where the pretty narrow main street has a mix of trendy clothes stores (White Stuff, Fat Face, Crew Clothing, Joules), designer kitchen and outdoor furniture suppliers, butchers, bakers, fishmongers and a small well stocked bookshop - it's a shoppers delight!

There is a coffee shop with good quality coffees, cakes and, best of all, delicious bacon sandwiches; plus a couple of good pubs and a mix of restaurants.

From the main jetty small boats carry passengers to South Sands beach (10 minutes on the ferry) or East Portlemouth beach (5 minutes on the ferry). Both beaches are beautiful sandy beaches with safe bathing waters, rocks to climb on, high quality cafes and nearby toilets - ideal for children, and adults!

It is also possible to walk down a farm track from the house to North Sands Beach and on to South Sands Beach. It's downhill on the way there and takes about 20 minutes. North Sands is also a sandy beach with a good restaurant behind the beach where there is a barbeque running at lunchtimes in the summer.

On South Sands beach is a second sailing school.

Above South Sands Beach on the headland is Overbecks - a beautiful old house and gardens with stunning views over the mouth of the estuary - now owned by the National Trust.

There are numerous stunning walks around Salcombe - around the estuary or along the cliffs - all affording fantastic views of rolling countryside, blue sea and dramatic shoreline.

In the town are tennis courts and a thriving rugby club.
